The BusLink beach bus service will be running again in Summer 2026.

This summer the route will be Rose Street Whangārei to Ruakākā Beach. The beach bus will run every Thursday, from Thursday 8 January to Thursday 5 February 2026.

The bus will leave Rose Street bus hub for Ruakākā Beach at 11.15am and return from the beach at 2pm, arriving at Rose Street at c2.45pm.

The beach bus is a cash only service, $5 single, $10 return

Onerahi road safety works (WDC) - CityLink Route 2 Onerahi

Whangarei District Council (WDC) starts road safety works on 7 January 2026, for 2 weeks. CityLink Route 2 Onerahi will be impacted:

Morning service:

Route 2 will re-route down Kokich Crescent, then Clotworthy Crescent

The bus stop at 152 Old Onerahi Road will temporarily move to 8 Clotworthy Crescent.

Afternoon service:

Route 2 will enter via Clotworthy Crescent.
